A teacher of piano and a piano coach with more than 45 years of experience, Dr. Joseph Line is also a celebrated piano accompanist, organist, conductor and church musician. He holds a bachelor’s degree in organ and piano and a master’s degree in conducting from The Oberlin College Conservatory of Music in Ohio. His doctoral degree in conducting is from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. His extensive career as a musician has included teaching positions as associate professor of music at the State University of New York College at Oswego, a Graduate Teaching Assistantship at University of Michigan and an endowed professor’s chair at Marshall University in Huntington, WV. Dr. Joe has performed well over 250 recitals as a soloist and accompanist and has conducted both amateur and professional choirs, symphony orchestras and opera theaters to critical acclaim in both the United States and Europe. Throughout his professional career, he has also held several important church positions including Director of Music at Bethlehem United Church of Christ in Ann Arbor, Michigan and at St. Bartholomew’s Church (Episcopal) in Manhattan. Dr. Joe and his wife Darby, and their two Shih-tzu puppies, Kona and Kaffee, currently live in Pompano Beach, FL. Their adult son is an accountant near Philadelphia. In addition to teaching piano full-time, Dr. Joe is also the Director of Music Ministry at St. Martin Episcopal Church in Pompano Beach.
